Every season we see a ton of different, fabulous looks, yet there are always a few trends we see across the board. One of the biggest hair stories for Fall 2013 was the low ponytail. Ah, I love it. It’s so refreshing to see a glam way to wear the hair staple. For the Victoria Beckham show (above), Redken creative consultant Guido created this simple, yet elegant pony based on shine, shine and more shine. “This style is meant to look very easy, almost accidental, but note the emphasis is on the texture — I wanted it to look really drenched in shine, not quite totally wet, but almost,” explained Guido. Here are the steps to get the look.
Step 1: Blow dry hair with your fingers, not a brush, dragging fingers through as you dry so that the end result is straight but not perfect and retains a natural texture.
Step 2: Once dry, apply a shine serum (Guido used Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine, $40 – Launches in May) from lengths to ends.
Step 3: For an extra glossy finish, next apply a shine spray (he used Redken Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist, $18) all over.
Step 4: Gather hair into a loose low pony with a messy, undefined side part. Pull out some pieces around the face and leave one ear exposed.
