The Look: Lumberjack chic
The Occasion: My cousin’s dressed-down holiday soiree on the 28th.
Why: There’s nothing I love more than a cozy sweater. Mostly because I’m freezing all the time. My office mates and husband can attest to that. But, I also don’t want to look like a total frump in a sweater either. That’s why I’d pair this red and white festive pullover with distressed skinny jeans (the Fame of the Game Jeans), a great oversized beanie (like the You Know the Chill Hat in Pine) and a casual leather bag (the X Marks the Spot Bag) that’ll hold my essentials along with my toddler’s must-haves. I’d finish off the look with a pair of boots (the Quilt On Dreams Boot) that are equally as comfy as the sweater and ones that’ll hold up in any weather. Finally, I’d be remiss not to complement the look with a few key beauty finds, and when the party theme calls for lumberjack chic, a lip balm — the All Smiles Lip Balm Set (one that would make any lumberjack smile), tinted moisturizer, blush and tinted brow gel are about all I’d need. What do think? Would you wear this?

Kiehl’s is like the grand poobah of high-end gift giving— literally any number of their creams, balms, washes or scents can make someone happy and their skin soft. This year for the holidays, they teamed with artist Kenny Scharf and dreamed up the Kenny Scharf Limited Edition Crème De Corps, $48 (16.9 oz). The playful, cartoonish packaging makes me smile just cause it’s like a more fun, adorable version of the original. And nothing is as effective at soothing your skin in the winter, so it fits the tough balance of practical and decadent at the same time. This year, 100% of net profits will support RxArt, a non-profit national organization, committed to fostering artistic expression and awareness through introducing contemporary art in pediatric hospitals. RxArt is dedicated to placing original fine art in patient, procedure and examination rooms of healthcare facilities, for the engagement and comfort of patients. Every holiday season, I become totally obsessed with one or two fabulous makeup palettes. Each brand offers up their ideal edited collection of classic colors that go beautiful together. They are a fabulous gift for the makeup lover in your life and perfect for those who travel too. This season, Laura Mercier has gone above and beyond with multiple palettes that are pretty, wearable and covet-worthy, but the one that got my attention is her Bonne Mine Healthy Glow for Face and Cheeks Crème Colour Palette, $48. With 100% of the proceeds (yes, you read that right!), going to the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund, it’s the perfect gift that gives back. And it’s super pretty and wearable. Inspired by her celebrity clients, Mercier created this ultra-sheer combo of bronzer veil, cheek veil and glow veil, to ensure a natural, sun-kissed effect that’s easy to use and customize the look you want. The best part is you can apply it with your fingertips so it’s perfect for on-the-go primping. As part of her 12 Days of Flawless promotion if you buy yours TODAY, you get a complimentary Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Deep Teal, $22. Happy shopping!
I’ve just started my holiday shopping and this year I decided to search out gifts that give back and donate a portion of their proceeds to charity. First on my list is In Peace, $75. It’s the perfect gift fragrance because it’s super versatile: Fresh and light, it has top notes of pimento and freesia, a heart of creamy suede and soft mimosa, with a base of white musk and sandalwood. I love to wear it alone, but it’s also lovely mixed with a citrus scent as well — totally changes the mood. The best part: 10% of net profits from the sale of each bottle will go directly to Women for Women International’s sponsorship program which supports women survivors of war to enable them to rebuild their lives and promote peaceful communities. How is that for a gift?
