beauty-editor-on-call-editorsHi There! We’re Kristen and Carrie and we make up the very small team that runs Beauty Editor On Call. We’re wives, moms, beauty enthusiasts and high school best friends who just happened to end up working in the same industry in New York City. Kristen is out west in Los Angeles now, but Carrie remains in NYC.

Why should you take the advice and beauty tips we’re doling out here? Well, for the past 14 years we’ve both worked as staff and freelance beauty editors and directors at print publications like Seventeen, Fitness, New York and Nail It! (and some now defunct pubs like CosmoGIRL!, YM and Quick & Simple, too). After spending time in the glamorous world of print we moved on to web pubs like totalbeauty.com, self.com, beautylaunchpad.com, makeup.com and more.

In the process of creating endless amounts of content for these publications and sites, we got to know and befriend tons of top beauty experts in their fields. Think: dermatologists, hairstylists, makeup artists, aestheticians, manicurists and even trichologists (hair/scalp gurus). The knowledge they’ve shared with us is safely filed away in our brains – to the point that when friends, family members or readers have a beauty question, we can usually come up with some sort of answer that is legit and backed in science (if applicable). We’re like walking, talking beauty wikis.

We’ve also spent a lifetime trying – with success and failure – tons of hairstyles, makeup looks, skin care regimes … you name it. People to this day are always shocked that we can French braid our own hair – in more ways than one — make our pasty skin look believably sun-kissed and even give ourselves a pro-looking pedicure.

This is all a long winded way of saying that we are, hopefully without a doubt in your mind, qualified to dish out beauty advice and answer your pressing beauty questions. And, that our passion for beauty is crazy strong and our desire to share the latest and greatest beauty trends and products is even stronger.

We hope you enjoy the site and reach out when you have any beauty questions, thoughts or ideas. We’d love to hear from you.

Do you think it’s safe to buy beauty products from a website such as Amazon?

Hi Kristin! I LOVE your site! I actually applied to a position (ok, that’s an understatement — my dream position) at TotalBeauty.com this past September. What a small world that you worked there AND Seventeen Magazine, the gateway magazine to my love of all things beauty. I’m a beauty blogger too, but my writing is nowhere near your level! Do you have any tips for me? You do have a lot more years in this biz :-) ! Anyways, thank you for your amazing post on how to do your bouncy blowout with hot rollers. I’m a huge fan of rollers, too.

  5. Wendy,

So glad you like the blog and specifically the post about the bouncy blowout — hot rollers really are the best. Email me sometime and we’ll chat about the biz: beautyeditoroncall@gmail.com. Thanks for reaching out!
